How do I know if I am eligible for IRS Free File?

Answer

IRS Free File provides free tax preparation and filing for taxpayers who had an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $73,000 or less in 2022. 

IRS Free File uses Guided Tax Preparation. The taxpayer answers simple questions and the software does the calculations. The federal tax return is free and some state preparation and filing are free as well.
