Am I eligible to file a tax return with MilTax?

MilTax is free tax software and free individualized support from military tax experts. You are eligible to file a tax return and receive support from MilTax if you fall into one of the following categories:

• Active-duty service member, spouse, or dependent children of an eligible service member.

• Member of the National Guard or reserve.

• Retired and honorably discharged service members within 365 days of discharge.

• A family member who is managing the affairs of an eligible service member while the service member is deployed.

• A designated family member of a severely-injured service member who cannot handle their own affairs.

• Eligible survivor of active duty, National Guard, or reserve deceased service member.

• Some members of the Defense Department civilian expeditionary workforce.
